A Second Chapter
In May 2021, The Corner Studio opened its second location, expanding offerings to include Pilates and Lagree fitness. Our sister studio has three spaces for Pilates private and duet sessions, one on the main floor and two at ground level, while the second floor Lagree Loft houses five machines for Megaformer group fitness classes.
Although similar in foundation, Pilates and Lagree are two distinct exercise methods. Simply put, the biggest difference is sweat factor. While traditional Pilates equipment promotes rehabilitation through stretching bigger muscles and strengthening smaller muscles, the Lagree Megaformer workout focuses on high intensity body building techniques and low impact movements, with an emphasis on circuit training.
What is Pilates Equipment?
Pilates Equipment (Reformer, Cadillac, Stability Chair) can help to improve core strength, target specific muscle groups, improve posture and balance, increase mind-body awareness, and help correct differences in the body’s two sides. The equipment uses springs for resistance training to tone and elongate your muscles without adding bulk. Designed to be very supportive of the body, Pilates equipment allows for many modifications to increase or decrease difficulty level. Pilates is good for everyone—athletes, seniors, individuals with rehabilitation needs, pregnant or postpartum women, and anyone looking to improve their workout routine.
What is the Lagree Megaformer?
The Megaformer is a Pilates-inspired training machine with customizable components including platforms, carriages, handlebars, springs, ramps, and a body kit. At first glance reminiscent of the traditional Pilates Reformer, the Lagree Megaformer has a few more bells and whistles and hosts a different workout altogether—one that’s fast-paced and intense, yet all zero impact thanks to its spring-loaded, momentum-free resistance system.
How do I book?
Use The Corner Studio app for booking Pilates private and duet sessions and Lagree group fitness classes. A private is the instructor and one student; a duet is the instructor and two students. (A duet is BYOP, so please be sure your partner signs up, too!)
What do I need for class?
Sticky socks are strongly recommended for Pilates Equipment, required for Lagree Megaformer, and available for purchase in our boutique.
